Hi All, I probably should have stated WHY I thought that this was interesting. Extreme Tech is a technology internet magazine that has a pretty broad base of readers. The days of Deep Blue brought a great deal of positive publicity to those of us who love chess. To see an article at this point in time in this magazine was the important point. The more people that get exposed to chess, the more we on this site will find "kindred spirits" and the ever present Darwinism that in chess programming will continue to progress. The next Vas or Fabien or Coz will come from one of these kindred spirits. Unfortunately, they will make the programs so good that our cell phone will eventually be capable of beating any GM at any time control! When semiconductor technology gets below 45 nanometers in the semiconductor world ... that will probably the end for humans ... 8 Opteron cores on a single chip, 2GHz FSB DDR SRAM @2GHz .... 10M NPS using the Rybka NPS counting methodology! We will probably have 7 man EGTB's by then!! Anyway, I thought that it was good for Chess and this forum to see that the Kings Game has not been forgotten. Best Regards, Frank
