That could be asking for trouble, especially under Win XP, assuming you are
running that OS. It is advised that installing under anything other than the
default directory under WinXP will result in WinXP attempting to make back up
files everytime you close the program if not in the default directory, and these
files are rather large.

This is correct. The only thing you are seeing is the H10 splash screen when it
starts up. If you want to run Fritz 9 GUI, when the program starts, under
Tools/Options/select Version and then Fritz 9. You will still get the H10 splash
screen on first starting which I find annoying, but you will be running Fritz 9.
