I think the point is not whether Topalov can beat a machine, but whether a machine could play even better by using some of Topalov's techniques. More specifically, the flexibility to dramatically change piece values. I think a goal would be to have an evaluation which does not start out with pre-defined piece values, but rather calculates their actual value from scratch based on the position.
