On January 2 > >I welcome you all to chime in and give your thoughts as this IS your club. > >Peter The trolling here is a major problem. Much of it comes from a single source. Until recently I would get frustrated with other members feeding the new incarnations. However I now accept that, as he has been around for a number of years and appears to have different personalities assigned to different trolls in his box, his problems are such that he is not going away. The consequences of this behaviour are damaging to the group. Whenever I see a new member I immediately check for fingerprints. Some other readers behave similarly. When a new member posts and I have something relevant to contribute, I will refrain from doing so until he has been here long enough for me to be confident that he is genuine. I assume that other genuine readers do the same. I now read this group less frequently than I have in the past because too often I come away irritated and frustrated. I would be surprised if I was the only reader here who has had his behaviour modified by the trolling inflicted on the group. Suspicion of new members, impatient responses to suspected trolls, long irrelevant “conversations” between different troll incarnations, less interest in the group from genuine readers, etc, etc etc. There are many reasons why the troll problem needs to be addressed . If you really want to improve the quality of this group, try your best to tackle the troll problem.
