Chandler: Please stop jumping into these threads without understanding what is going on. Other engines find the Rxg4 because it leads to a forced draw. But they also understand that the =N underpromotion by black is an instant mate. Since Rybka doesn't understand the underpromotion, it doesn't see the need to force a draw, and, indeed, doesn't want to do so since it thinks it is winning by just playing lots of checks that push the mate off beyond the horizon. It has nothing to do with having enough time or needing more time. Vas simply chose to not deal with under-promotions (yet) and occasionally that will cause a problem, as it did here... >> >>[d] 8/2r5/8/1p3pk1/3R2b1/3K3R/2Q1p3/3n1n2 w - - 0 1 >> >>New game - Rybka WinFinder 1.0 32-bit, >>8/2r5/8/1p3pk1/3R2b1/3K3R/2Q1p3/3n1n2 w - - 0 1 >> >>Analysis by Rybka 1.01 Beta 13b 32-bit: >> >>1.Qxc7 >> +- (3.61) Depth: 3 00:00:00 >>1.Qxc7 >> +- (3.97) Depth: 4 00:00:00 >>1.Qxc7 Nf2+ 2.Kc2 >> +- (3.63) Depth: 5 00:00:00 >>1.Qxc7 Nf2+ 2.Kc2 Nxh3 >> +- (3.69) Depth: 6 00:00:00 14kN >>1.Qxc7 Nf2+ 2.Kc2 Nxh3 3.Qe7+ Kh5 >> +- (3.69) Depth: 7 00:00:00 22kN >>1.Qxc7 Nf2+ 2.Kc2 Nxh3 3.Qe7+ Kh5 4.Rd8 >> +- (6.80) Depth: 8 00:00:01 24kN, tb=2 >>1.Qxc7 Nf2+ 2.Kc2 Nxh3 3.Qe7+ Kh5 4.Rd8 Ne3+ 5.Kb3 >> +- (#10) Depth: 9 00:00:04 115kN, tb=124 >> >>(Summers, Atlanta, GA (USA) 30.01.2006)
