Hi Pablo, What you describe is certainly 'an' horizon effect which might also be called 'near sightedness' but THE 'horizon effect' which is a term used by the chess programmers, I think, and is described very well by Mr Hyatt below.... When the computer manages to stick its head in the sand, and pretend all is well when it is not. This is pretty facinating when you think that a machine manifest such a 'human' behaviour of denial :) -David
