I was excited when Christian Barreteau announced his new version of the old and
very good programme Anmon. I decided to test it against two strong commercials
(Ktulu 7.5 and Smarthink 1.00), two of the best free programmes (Glaurung 1.0
and Spike 1.0), and two good mid/high ones (Homer 1.02 and Naum 1.9).

The results are very interesting. My guess was between 35 to 40% overall for
Anmon 5.60. The reality, slightly better.

Gui: Junior 9
Pentium IV 3.00 Mhz Dual
Ponder : on.
Book: Perfect 9.32 for all programmes.
Time control: 40 moves/12 min + 40 moves / 12 min + 10 min finish.

Against commercials:

Anmon 5.60 - Ktulu 7.5 +1 -4 =1 1,5/4,5
Anmon 5.60 - Smarthink 1.00 +1 -2 =3 2,5/3,5

Against very strong free programmes:

Anmon 5.60 - Glaurung 1.0 +2 -2 =2 3,0/3,0
Anmon 5.60 - Spike 1.0 Mainz +0 -3 =3 1,5/4,5

Against two mid/high tier:

Anmon 5.60 - Homer 1.02 +3 -1 =2 4,0/2,0
Anmon 5.60 - Naum 1.9 +3 -2 =1 3,5/2,5

Overall =    +10  -14  =12    16,0/20,0    44,4%

These are very promising results, in my opinion.

Thanks, Christian, for the interesting upgrade of your program!. ;-)
