My testing hasn't shown anything conclusive. More than one setting looked
promising after 50-100 games, but after 4 opponents and 200 games, the advantage
had been reduced to 1% (2 extra points in 200 games). For example, changing the
Soundness to UltraSolid, yielded a clear score improvement against Fritz 9, yet
lost the same points to Fruit 2.2.
Right now I am testing Focus = 5. After 100 games and two opponents, it is
ahead, but so have other settings. So nothing to say until I have the 200 games
in. Then we'll see how things stand. Here are the scores so far:
Default:
1 Rybka 1.01 Beta 13 32-bit 2900 +19/-15/=16 54.00% 27.0/50
2 Fritz 9 2820 +15/-19/=16 46.00% 23.0/50
1 Rybka 1.01 Beta 13 32-bit 2900 +25/-10/=15 65.00% 32.5/50
2 Fruit 2.2 2850 +10/-25/=15 35.00% 17.5/50
Total: 59.5 / 100
Default with Focus = 5:
1 Rybka 1.01 Beta 13 32-bit 2900 +28/-10/=12 68.00% 34.0/50
2 Fritz 9 2820 +10/-28/=12 32.00% 16.0/50
1 Rybka 1.01 Beta 13 32-bit 2900 +26/-15/=9 61.00% 30.5/50
2 Fruit 2.2 2850 +15/-26/=9 39.00% 19.5/50
Total: 64.5 / 100
Note this is Beta 13 and not Beta 13b. Using 13b would require me to run 200
games with the default settings as well, so to test the parameters, I am
sticking with Beta 13.
