I seem to recall Rolf being here for 9+ years before Rybka came.

Rybka.

Each computer account there is from someone who paid Chessbase for a
subscription or a playing program of theirs. Hardly at their expense.

You forget being able to play matches with ponder=on.

He was so far ahead that it took this long for the others to catch him up, or
beat him. I'm sure this is the motivation he really needed: not just a couple of
program catching up and beating him by a bit (Fritz 9, Hiarcs 10, Fruit 2.2),
but one or two to really pull ahead (Rybka of course, and I do not doubt the
next Fruit)
