I like to filter out any games other than long time control games from my pgn collections. I was wondering if there is a way to determine if a game is not long time control by the round tag value. The problem is that many publicly available games in pgn format do not indicate their time control if it is other than long time control, so I was wondering if I can find clues about the time control from the round "tag". For example, in a recent fide knock-out tournament in Libya, rounds 1.1-1.2,2.1-2.2,...,5.1-5.2 were long time control games. Then if the 2 players in the round were tied, they went into rapid/blitz/sudden death playoffs until one player prevailed. The pgns from these games gave no indication of the different time controls. In this tournament, round tag values 1.3-1.4, 2.3-2.4,...,5.3-5.4 were for games with rapid time controls. Then 1.5-1.6, 2.5-2.6,...,5.5-5.6 were blitz time controls. Then 1.7,...,5.7 were sudden death games. In round 6 (semi-finals), 6.1-6.4 were long time controls, 6.5-6.6 were rapid, 6.7-6.8 were blitz, 6.9 was sudden death. In round 7 (final round), 7.1-7.6 were long time control, 7.7-7.8 were rapid, 7.9-7.10 were blitz and 7.11 was sudden death.
