Hi CCC According to Andy soltis (chess life april 99 p.14) Bobby fischer disclosed during his 1992 comeback that he used a computer to keep a file of games. "But I don't play against it" says Bobby. Having thought about this remark I thought it was kind of odd, and I wonder if bobby fischer is in fact telling the truth. I find it hard to believe that a chess player can resist playing chess, especially when there is few humans around to play, regardless of the fact that it is a computer. Or was it the fact that bobby had very little respect for the strength of computers? It is possible that this may have been the case, although I don't know how strong micro programs were in 1992. Actually I have wondered many times whatever bobby fischer presently plays some of the top programs today in his spare time, I would love to get ahold of such games if in fact they exist. I would be willing to bet that he has played the top programs many times and lost a bunch. Apparently he had no problem playing chess computers when they were very weak (grenbaltt Program ?).
