"I only look at one move -- the best one." -- Capablanca. If you can do that, then one node per time control will do. There has been debate on fast+dumb verses slow+smart since computer chess began. One method gets ascendency over the others in cycles. I think that the bottom line is: "The proof of the pudding is in the eating."
