Go up one level in this thread

Although it's off-topic the younger members here should have the chance to read it. I got into a heated debate with Chan on CTF, topic the court case of this famous American GM, perhaps you remember. Already then it was clear that Chan is a very matured person of higher age. With all what he knew about justice and all. Then he's always strong with his arguments PRO science CONTRA religious powerdom. Let's keep it there. I take it as a strong need for his actual life that he has contact with chess people. Unfortunately my weak English forbids me to understand most of his "games", but I would defend him that he's not primarily evil to give you problems here. What if he's really older and feels the consequences of age? His arguments in the CTF are still sharp enough. He's definitely not confused. I think I should leave it at that and beg you, yes I want to plead in favor of this human being that we all here should at least tolerate that he's allowed to publish his personal messages. Please dont punish him for not being PC so to speak. Perhaps you and I would retire soon enough if we will get older someday, but please let's not enforce a level that is NOT justified for our hobby. You had the chance and joy to meet several very old stars of the scene included two World Champions, Berliner and Tinsley, wouldnt you still admire them even if they had written something weird into CCC? Let's just show that we have a human touch, Bob. The way how he sees things, these things are right. Isnt it the same with all of us? Do we really want to behave with arrogance? Again, more than what I can write here in public, someone who could begin a deeper email exchange with Chan would do something good. Chan once sent me even some poems which I couldnt quite understand due to my weak English... GENS UNA SUMUS... Please let Chandler Yergin live here among us as long as he enjoys it. Let's show him our respect also if we proved him wrong. Please do also contact Steve for a final decision if I couldnt persuade you.
