Eugene's tablebase generation software calculates the exact size of the UNCOMPRESSED tablebase before it begins to generate it. The compressed tablebases are on average 20% of the size of the uncompressed tablebases. So it should be possible to modify the generation software to omit the actual generation, add up all the totals to get the exact size of all uncompressed tablebases, then make a fairly accurate estimate of the size of the compressed tablebases.
