I'm going to assemble my system with an Opteron 170 processor on Friday, I hope
to overclock to speeds around 2.7-2.8 as well without boosting voltage. I did
buy quality RAM and motherboard, but my system is still quite a bit cheaper than
a FX-60 system. According to reviews I read, FX-60 is not such an awesome
overclocker; it currently simply seems very difficult to get an X2 chip
performing at 3GH.
