In a study, Black is required to play what can be justified as 'its best defence'. The presumed scenario is that White is a fallible player, not an infallible player with an Endgame Table. It is therefore assumed that White might unthinkingly Queen the Pawn, in which case, Black has swindled a draw. This is seen as Black's best chance of snatching the draw. The biggest threat to White is the Queen that is not even on the board. This was, as it happens, discussed in the ICGA Journal (2000) v23 No. 2 pp. 94-96. g
