For example, if I set up this position with an engine (black) to move, I would expect the engine to claim a 50-move draw, because the FEN string indicates a half-move clock of 49. Instead the engine moves .. Ka2 and lets white checkmate. [D]8/8/3R4/8/8/8/2K5/k7 b - - 49 120 I issue the following commands to a winboard engine: xboard setboard 8/8/3R4/8/8/8/2K5/k7 b - - 49 120 go I tried this with a few engines, crafty, zappa, yace, shredder w/ polyglot, all with the same result. Is there a reason for this I am not understanding? Isn't it legal to claim the draw here? Anyone know of an engine that claims the draw in this case? Thanks.
