I believe that CBH (old chessbase format) is described there.

I think it is going to be a lot of work with little return for you.

Almost every chess program can read and write PGN.  If you can get that working
perfectly, then you can exchange PGN with any other chess system.

Rob Weir's ChessBase utilities are programs designed to read and write OLD
chessabase format.  The new format is not published.
