I tested rybka beta 12 extensively, assuming that rybka 13b had only minor improvements in strength (there were minor changes to hash table behavior and EGTB was added. Both of these where not expected to have a big impact.) However, it looks like the biggest jump in strength has occured between 12 and 13b. For example, (using all the same conditions and openings) Rybka 12 versus fritz 9 52.5-47.5 Rybka 13b versus fritz 9 59.5 - 40.5 Anothe piece of evidence comes from richard bloods tournment results, which again suggest that 13b is a big improvement over 12. indeed, the original beta and beta 9 are, at this point in his tournement, doing better than 12 (see his previous post and inserted table below) I wonder how much insight programers really have in what is or is not an improvement. Could EGTB in version 13 make this big a difference over version 12? 1. Rybka 1.01 Beta 13b 77-100 2. Rybka 1.0 Beta 75.5-100 3. Deep Shredder 9 74-100 4. Rybka 1.01 beta 9 72.5-100 5.
