I think that the difference may be dependent on the opening position that you start. You can do a round robin tournament for every position. If you have 151 programs you can get 300 games for every one of them in a single position by round robin tournament when every 2 engines play 2 games. It will not give you correct rating lists of the engines because engines may be lucky in specific position that they like but I think that it may be interesting to find positions when speed is relatively more important and positions when knowledge is relatively more important. Uri Hi Uri, that´s a point. Feel free to discuss this with us in our forum. We are constantly trying to improve some things and as you know the perfect rating list does not exist, because there are different GUI´s, different choices for opponents and for books, different time controls and other conditions and so on. There is no real "truth". For us it is sufficient to give hints and some probabilties regarding improvements, games to replay and to test quickly the latest releases with many, many games in Blitz and 40/40. We neither claim to be perfect, nor coming close to this. Anyway I think CEGT is meanwhile well accepted not only by the enthusiasts, but also by many authors taking in account our data as well as those from many other testers. Best Regards Heinz
