Subject: Chess Variant Engines

Just wondering if any Programmers are working on variants like crazyhouse and
losers. Last update I could find was from 2002, is this area dead or just boring
to Programmers. Just hoping for some life in this area as these engines are
quite outdated. ex.. no 64 bit or SMP. Thanks for the info!
