My program plays hexagonal chess in addition to rectangular chess: http://www.glaurungchess.com Much wilder and more exciting than normal chess - highly recommended! Unfortunately, the GUI only works on PowerPC Macs running Mac OS X 10.3.9 or newer. The engine itself is a normal UCI engine and can easily be recompiled for any OS, but unfortunately there is no UCI compatible GUI with hexagonal chess support for Linux or Windows. >Just hoping for some life in this area as these engines are >quite outdated. ex.. no 64 bit or SMP. I can only speak for myself, but in the case of my program it is hard to find motivation. I have never seen my hexagonal chess program lose a game, except in self-play matches against slightly different versions of itself. If I managed to make it 100 Elo points stronger, I wouldn't notice any difference at all when playing against it. I am actually more interested in finding good ways to dumb it down than in increasing the strength further. Nevertheless, the next version probably will have SMP support. I have already implemented SMP in my normal chess program, and because the two programs share almost all the code, adding SMP to the hexagonal chess program is trivial. Tord
