Yes, when i sent this email, I thought: "poor hienz. yet another request to
use his computers for opening X."
My problem is that my decent computer is used constantly for work, so i don't
think i could contribute to the 40/40 tournement.
My dedicated chess computer is an ancient p3 447 mh. I think it*can * produce
super GM quality games, if i give it time controls of 40 moves in 6 hours, or
something like that. It will take about a week to get 6 high quality games.
My main purpose for looking at these long time controls is that I often want to
see top quality attacking/defending plans in particular openings, but super GMs
rarely play those openings. I think it would be a good study tenchinique to run
a set of these games and then analyze what worked and what did not work.
Let me think about this in more detail, and i'll email you on your forum.
best
Joseph
You and others are very welcome to do this (see CEGT forum).
