The question is what type of evaluation.

search with a good static evaluation of positions can also search senseless
moves if the search does not know to evaluate if a move is illogical.

The pv that you see is small part of the search and you do not see the lines
that it searches that are not the pv to see the amount of senseless moves that
it searches.
