I agree with you that Ubi Soft's decision to force people to have the CD in the drive for CM9000 was a bad one, but it is still my favorite version because of all the cool new features that were put in for it. If you take out the CD requirement, where would it fall in your rankings? Also, there may be a "NoCD" crack for it, but I wouldn't know where to find it. I'll bet you could easily find it if you Googled around a bit. CM8000 is my second favorite because it was the first one to have Winboard support (thanks to my recommendation). CM5500 is next because it was the first time I was really part of the Chessmaster development team, although I only came in during the last few months when one of the original developers quit. jm
