and several great mods of the past are happy to not be mods now because of this
crap..its sad

Merlino and Byrne are but two that come to mind

the members elect mods to enforce the charter ..that is their sole purpose
and yet when they do just what they were elected to do..some cry out

Ed Triste came here about year ago touting his computer chess variant site..
Byrne deleted his posts under provision number 4 and not one member here said
boo
not one

why?
because noone cared for his site to begin with
with Rybka of course..some feel a ridiculous sense of gratitude to the author
for the strong play of the program

a sort of adulation of the Magi
so there is this "fan club" mentality that comes in to play

the fact is..Pete posted a question to Vas himself

"what exactly dont you understand about #4?"

Vas answered.. that to him it was not clear

as far as i can see..it was a question from Pete to Vas
others jumped in and cried foul

in my opinion they are the ones out of line butting into a thread between the
Mod and the poster

as far as doing all of that "offline" i generally dont like "behind the scenes"
contact and i think its lessens the openness of the forum

certainly with Triste there was no behind the scenes give n take
it was all out in the open and again noone said one word

no adulation there
