what do I from a chessplayers view get from these nps? I use rybka for analysing or rarely play against it. I simply don't need this number. as u pointed out there r different ways in counting nodes, so u can't really compare them anyway. I see it as a gimmick, that chessbase invented (I mean to display it). now if u r right about the rybkanodes u could think the author is making fun of nodecounting. what's wrong with it? and of course every programmer has the right to hide the real nps. what really matters is playing strength. I can't see there "bad taste" at all. I find it very funny that something that special like nodecounting in a chessprogram can be bad taste - lol.
