Subject: Query of Mr. Ansari about the Strongest Chess Engine To Date

Author: ramon b. de robles

Mr. Ansari is afraid that by giving additional endgame knowledge would
result in reduction of the playing strength of Rybka.

QUESTION

What is the minimum configuration neede for Rybka to run properly ?
What is the CPU, memory , VGA memory , etc. needed ?

Will it run in an Old Pentium Machine or a 586 / 486 ?

Is it true that adding additional endgame knowledge will weaken Rybka
in other departments /positions ?

Will it utilized the extra memory of the Video Card ?

Will Rybka detect draws by way of stalemate in which other programs
failed to
see ?

RESPONSE FROM VAS

if the endgame knowledge is intelligent, of course Rybka will play stronger.

There is no real minimum hardware for Rybka - more is always better. Yes, it
will run on a 486 or 586.

Rybka will not use the memory from a video card.

Re. endgame draws, Rybka will also overlook some of these - it is a side-effect
of using null move.

Best regards,
Vas
