James,

>How does a bidder hide his name when bidding on E-bay?

the bidder does not elect to hide his name
the seller can set up the auction so that the bidders names are hidden
this option is only avaialable to the seller

the reason the seller might do this is to encourage bidders who ordinarily would
not bid against others that they know..in this case it allows collectors whom
know each other to bid aganst each other and not offend anyone

but i never bid on hidden auctions
it leaves too much room for the seller to goose up the price by bidding himself

perhaps this happenned here..i cannot say for certain,,but i suspect it

Best
Steve
