I've been away from this scene for a while, and I pop in and find out about
Fruit (a number of months ago). At "xx" Euros I thought Fruit was such a great
engine, such a great piece of work (and it's still really amazing and great).
So I go away and come back and see something about Rybka. For me this is a very
surprising new thing. I have been on CCC just to read whatever I can about
Rybka (so to me it's CCC in the eyes of someone here just "fishing" for Rybka
information).
I wrote to Vas saying, please take your time with this version 1.2
development and release because honestly the beta version that I downloaded
fully justified the "yy" Euros that I paid for it.
My feeling is that Vas must be under pressure, but as a person who has
already paid for this lineage, what I received so far is so amazing that I am
really happy with this "product" even as it currently stands. So I'm one of
those guys saying "relax and take your time"... but that's just one person. So
I'm guessing others out there might have just the opposite thought...
I really do look forward to downloading whatever Vas says is version 1.2,
but I don't care at all if it's out in April or May or whenever. I mentioned
that I would rather see "features" than see a February delivery. I was thinking
I'd rather have his work on any sort of "local book" capability, and also
receive a version that has his newer "endgame knowledge" (a version thoroughly
tested, not hurried).
So what do you guys think? I just feel I've already received an engine
worth what I sent out. I'm trying to stay away from a discussion of actual
dollar amount and instead communicate something like "for the 'yy' that it cost
me I've already received that much 'fun' from the program, and more..."
I'm just a regular enthusiast of these engines (I'm not related to any of
these people - ha!)
Vas, and Fabien... you've both got something really great... (credit to other
great engines also)
