I would assume Deep Blue II would be the best, even though I think it should be
still around playing to confirm this.

And as for commercial prgrams. CM6K with the mighty king engine would be the all
time greatest. This does not take into account program features. But pure chess
engine power, King Engine rules the world now and will forever.

But getting serious for a moment. The best is yet to come. CM7K will rule the
world for the years to come, and then when the newer versions come out they will
rule for even longer.

I see Shredder, Hiarcs, and Rebel all falling into oblivion due the the world
domination of the market Mindscape will have. Fritz due to its long time
following will just escape and continue to survive.
