Hi Roman, SMIRF does not investigate for stalemates only for mates. But it counts not being mated but already setting mate (as a special form of check). So the information on mate counts is one ply earlier at hands as you have calculated. Nevertheless having correct counts in perft is always encouraging to see! In the beginning I have had some really frustrating bugs to eliminate ... ;-) Regards, Reinhard.
