"Symmetric multiprocessing". It means that on machines with more than one CPU (or with a dual core CPU), the program will be able to use all of them, which makes it run much faster. The SMP support in Glaurung is still a bit restricted, though. It cannot use more than two CPUs at the moment. Glaurung 1.0.2 will run exactly as fast on a computer with two CPUs as on a computer with only one of these CPUs. My current version runs almost twice as fast on the computer with two CPUs. Tord
