I don't think labelling an engine "clone" is the problem. I think the connotation that the word "clone" carries is the problem. Clone should NOT be a negative term applied to engines that have STOLEN code without giving credit. In every other use of the word clone it does not have this negative meaning. IBM PC-clones are legal PC's that are able to be sold offically on the market. I think a new label needs to be applied to the rip-off engines and clone should be used for the engines that legally use a major amount of code from an exisiting engine and have simply added new features or performance enhancements. Clone is not a bad word.
