The term DELUXE has been used very sparingly when it comes to the old computers
Indeed only two computers ever achieved this high praise

in chess computer collecting parlance .."Deluxe "is attributed to a computer
that is released first in a normal non- wooden version and then released
again..with little or no modification.. but this time surrounded in life
giving,mouth watering ,glorious ..wood

the Fidelity Super 9 is well known to readers of these pages .
the program was released first as an upgrade to the Champion Sensory and then as
its own stand alone unit

the Super 9:

then soon after Fidelity makes schachcomputer history by releasing the first
"DELUXE" computer ever

Fidelity also released the well known Excellence which is a perennial favorite
of the Rank and File Collector

again readers of these pages well know that the Excellence came in two versions
the EP12 and the 6080

both versions were basically the same with only small differences in the playing
level options

the Fidelity Excellence:

however very little is known about the Deluxe version

shrouded in mystery and only whispered about in the lofty palaces of the top
collectors ..only one known specimen has been sighted to date..

captured in England and brought back to the country of its origin ..
subsequent scientific testing and pain staking analysis has shown it to be of
the 6080 species

Steve
