Tournaments at very long time controls takes ages and by the time you are half
way through - several of the engines will have new versions so the results
become less interesting.

A year or so ago I was running 3 tournaments

Blitz 5min/3sec
Rapid 25min/15sec
and
Standard 125/75sec

on 2 3200+ Athlons

I probably started with too many engines but new versions was a problem for this
- then work got in the way.

May be the only way would be a test suite of some type with a limited number of
positions (100?) - this could then be tested at a number of time controls
easily.

Does anyone know of a test suit that would be suitable for investingating
program strength at different time controls. Most tend to be tactical in nature.

If a suitable suite existed I would certainly test and post the results

I have many engines that I could test as well as any free ones.

I often run analysis against positions for hours so it would be usefull to know
which engines I should be using.

Shaun
