The main problem is that after a long time it gives a short pv. other engines have not that problem and after a long time they give a long pv. If I give rybka many hours to analyze it can show only one or 2 moves and I need to search hours again to see the next move in the pv. It may give pv like 33.Rac1 b5 and I need to do a another long search to understand what it plans after 33.Rac1 b5 if it searched 33.Rac1 to depth of 20 plies that took 12 hours then I may need to do another search to detph of at least 18 plies to see what it plans after 33.Rac1 b5 and it can take more than an hour of search. Maybe the problem is solved by preserve analysis but I also tried preserve analysis and did not like it because it simply remember at small depths scores that are not relevant and my experience is that it may need a big depth to suddenly rememebr the score after the main line and consider the alternatives seriously(I do not like that the program remember 0.6 for depth <20 and 1.23 for depth 20 because it means that I need to wait to depth 20 to see it analyze the alternatives and I want to see them at smaller depth in case that they give better score) Maybe preserve analysis is good enough to find the pv and I did not try preserve analysis only to go forward quickly without going backward. Maybe preserve analysis is good when you give the program hours after you go back to the root and I did not try it because I hoped that it can give me a new score quickly based on the knowledge that some forced line is not good when it can analyze alternatives to the main line to smaller depth and assume and I can see quickly if there is a good alternative. Of course I can analyze by 2 options every position to see if the opponent has alternative but I hoped that preserve analysis can help me to avoid it. Uri
