yes James..this is quite true
the Fidelity EAG computers from Version 2 up had Ram cards installed just to
save positions that resulted in wide downward swings in evaluation
these positions would be saved in Ram and not repeated

it would help for early mistakes in the opening but not so much once in the
middle game
