I know almost nothing about the internals of the Core Duo, but I own
one and can at least report how good it is for running my particular
engine.  For Glaurung CCT8, a Core Duo 2 GHz is about midway between
an AMD X2 3800+ and an AMD X2 4200+ in performance.

For a 64-bit program, the Core Duo would probably perform worse.
