Go up one level in this thread
It was not an easy decision. But after having been a moderator several terms now, I can honestly say we have had more moderator complaints this term than in all my previous terms combined. And that is really saying a _lot_ if you remember all the Sean Evans & family fiascos, etc... Personally, I didn't vote for kicking Rolf out. We've had our moments in previous years (prior to CCC) but that's old news. I've learned to read or not read posts here based on the thread and the apparent content. I don't feel compulsed to read everything everyone writes. Which lets me miss a whole lot of foolishness unless moderator email erupts. Rolf wasn't bothering me with his posts, and I couldn't even tell you what most were about as I don't read a lot of the Rybka stuff not being a Rybka user. But he did generate a huge number of complaints last week and eventually something has to happen... I'm even less happy about some other bans we have done, because I don't like the 3-week ban, then a 6 week ban, etc. We're supposed to be adults. I'd prefer to see one warning, one short suspension, then life without parole. Since moderators are not paid, that would at least simplify their life a bit. Hopefully the new system will help eliminate the many duplicate accounts here which will help some. But like it or not, occasionally there will be a special case that demands harsh action...
