Hello all, I worked on a chess engine in my spare time for the last two years. Now I will not have time to continue working on it for about a year or so. The engine's name is "King's'Out". The engine's source can be downloaded at <a href="http://www.fmi.uni-passau.de/~nuerberg/">http://www.fmi.uni-passau.de/~nuerberg/</a>. It is not yet finished but the "core" is already working. What's todo: - user interface - sophisticated evaluation - handling of openings (opening book) - PGN import/export Maybe someone could use this engine as basis for a complete chess engine or may find it interesting to look at if he/she is developing a Java chess engine on its own. I release it to GPL. The class kingsout.ui.Suite is already finished and can be used to run test suites. For a Java engine, King's'Out is rather fast (900-1500 kn/s on a P4 3.2, 250-400 kn/s on a PowerPC 500) and for the little incremental evaluation done (material, pc-sq, castlings), it does really well on easy test suites (BK, WAC, BWTC, ..), but it sucks on LCT-II, COVAX, .. bc. of no real eval.. Any comments appreciated. Thanks to all those clever minds @ CCC for the tons of useful posts in this forum. Greetings, Bernd
