Moderators are on an island and sometimes need to make snap judgements before
things snowball out of control.

I always consider that any post I make here is disposable (which is to say that
it might get deleted and if it does, don't worry about it).

It is a moderated forum, after all.  The whole point of a moderated forum is to
keep the forum focused on the topic at hand.

It is an incredibly difficult job to perform that task and at the same time not
make the forum too dry and boring.  So the balance between overmoderation and
undermoderation is a nebulous thing to contain.

I have nothing but praise for every moderator crew who has ever worked here.
