Agreed,Uri.Do you have a link to where to download Different test sets,I have only nunn test with 45 sets of predefined openings. >>I have never seen a testing of engines on shuffle chess. >>If you have any link to testing, please tell me. >The reason that people prefer different predefined position and not shuffle >chess is that different predefined position is a better predictor of the ability >of the engine to analyze. That's an analysis of an engine for classic chess because Predefined position gives the most common openings. But I'm talking about engine strength, how do you determine the exact strength and the ability to understand and calculate different positions that can be made on the board, not necessarily the position taken from classic chess. >There are position in shuffle chess that never can happen in normal chess(for >example black bishop at a8 and black pawn at b7) and engines that are designed so,White bishop would also be in the a1 square with b2 pwan. >to evaluate positions of shuffle chess may have an advantage that is not >relevant for analysis of normal chess positions. If we are talking about shuffle chess, why do you want to go into chess and explain how engines would analyze and how it evaluates. do you believe that engines that are designed to play chess might perform badly in shuffle chess? I have seen games where engine 1 would beat engine 2 in classic chess but loses to engine 2 in shuffle chess,no books in classic chess. But with different starting position, anything can happen.and It's the number of games that all engines play and number of points and rating that matters. regards, Swami
