Hi Roman, Many thanks for the tips. I just begun to write my own program. I have only the move generator, the do_move and undo_move, and the in_check functions. It very slow, but at least I generate all the moves without crashing ;) I noticed the file with a lot of epd positions, along with the node count. I think it will be a great help. I picked up some ideas here and there, but I prefer for the moment write an "easy to understand" program. One thing at a time. Philippe
