WinBoard itself doesn't support FischeRandom chess yet. The "variant
fischerandom" command to the engine is implemented, but WinBoard 4.0.2 doesn't
understand FischeRandom castling and will garble castling moves going either to
or from the engine. This should be fixed in a future version.

Other forms of shuffle chess (where castling either is never allowed, or works
as in ICS "wild 1") could be supported, but I don't know of any engines that
actually support them. Then again, engine authors don't always keep me informed
about what they're doing.

An engine that supports normal chess and ignores the "variant" command from
winboard will mostly play these forms of chess, but the engine will sometimes
get confused about whether castling is possible or not, depending on which
random starting position happens to have been chosen.

Also, WinBoard's chess variant support currently works fully only in ICS mode.
There is no way to select a variant when you're playing human vs. engine or
engine vs. engine locally.
