Well, I don't know what ChessBase thinks of you taking backup of a commercial
CD, but why should they sent you a new CD if you have scratched it? If they do,
and that's of course their problem, you will have to send the old one. Right?

But back to the original question: is it possible? Yes it is, I tried it
yesterday and when refueling, Fritz recognize the CD as the original one.

How did I manage that? Well, I won't tell you how to crack it, but it's
very easy ;-)

For the record: I think Chess Assistant has managed to solve the problem
with pirate copying. At least I'm told that CA3/4 can't be copied the same
way as Fritz5.
