There is a clear difference I know that Fritz5.16 [a short name to Fritz5(16 bit)] is clearly better in solving one position from my hard test positions(avoid Kg1) relative to Fritz5.01 Fritz5.16 avoid Kg1 in less than 15 minutes when Fritz5.01 needs one hour. It does not prove that Fritz5.16 is better and it is possible that Fritz5.16 is worse in other positions. Uri
