They should send a new one (for a reasonable replacement fee to cover processing
and shipping) because I have paid for a licence to use the software. Why
shouldn't they send me a new CD if I have scratched it?

And besides, what makes you think I have ChessBase? I don't. And if I did, I
doubt I would care what they think. Doing something to save them and me future
potential hassle, with a net cost to me of a blank CD, should be a net win for
everyone, as far as I am concerned.

I have stuff like Windows NT 4.0 Server, Visual Studio 6.0 (Enterprise), MS
Office 97... and Microsoft clearly marks on each disk, "Do Not Make Illegal
Copies of this Disc". They don't tell me I can't make copies. They tell me not
to pirate it. There is a big difference between the two.
