They have nothing to say about this.

Making backup copies for personal use IS PERFECTLY LEGAL.

Remember that when you buy a software you generally buy a LICENSE that allows
you to use it. The media (floppies, CDs...) are just a physical mean to bring
the software to you. It is your right to save the software by any mean you want,
provided that you don't give copies to somebody else.

I even think that protecting a CD to prevent the users to make private backup
copies could be considered illegal. I'm wondering if this case has ever been
discussed in a law court...
