FIDE extended the 50-move rule to 75 or 100 moves in some cases (like KBB vs KN, KNN vs KP when the pawn was on certain squares, KRB vs KR, KQP vs KQ again when the pawn was on some squares, especially in the b- or g-files; and perhaps some more); but then it changed it back to 50 moves for any case. I prefer the uniform 50-move rule. José.
